"Fostering Student Autonomy & Independence"

Cristin Boyd presented an engaging and interactive lesson on certain strategies to use in the classroom for encouraging students to become autonomous learners. It was an interactive workshop, focusing on student-centered activities that could foster student autonomy and independence. It included a comprehensive group-based activity that incorporated all skill areas which was the primary focus of this workshop.
Cristin A. Boyd is an instructor at the International Gateways-Studies in American Language (SAL) program at San Jose State University. Cristin currently teaches advanced-level writing, critical thinking, and reading to her IEP students and Reading and Writing Methodology to South Korean English teachers as part of the Teach English in English program. She has also taught in Poland, Chile, and South Korea.
